SITES TO VISIT ON ISLAND BRAČ

      With its untouched nature and rich cultural and historic heritage, the island of Brač has to offer numerous sites which we strongly recommend seeing, to name but a few:

Vidova Gora – the highest peak of the Adriatic with a magnificent view over the Middle Dalmatian islands, is located in immediate vicinity of Bol.

Zmajeva špilja (Dragon’s Cave) – a first class monument of cave monastery live just above the village of Murvica.

Pustinja Blaca (Blaca Desert) – former monastery and observatory is now a museum. Located between Bol and Milna.

Island Brač Museum – located at the oldest settlement on the island, which is Škrip.

Kopačina Cave – takes you back to the prehistoric time of the island and is located near the village of Donji Humac.

Lovrečina – an archeological site with remains of an early Romanic basilica, and at the same time a marvelous sand beach near Postira.

Stone Museum at Pučišća, where there is also one of the three stone masonry schools in Europe.

Dominican monestery at Bol, one of the most beautiful on the whole island of Brač and further.

Sacral collection of St. Peter parish Church at Supetar contains valuable items from the time of the Venetian Renaissance.

The Church of Christ the King (Croatian: Krista Kralja ) called the Stone Beauty in Selca and the monument of the Heart of Jesus (Srca Isusova), work of the world famous sculptor Ivan Meštrović.

Franciscan Monastery and Church of St. Martin at Sumartin.

The Church of our Lady of Cramel (Gospe od Karmela) with a valuable treasury at Nerežišća.

The bell tower of the Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary Parish Church (Uznesenja Blažene Djevice Marije) at Sutivan.

The bridge built by Joseph Ferdinand and bell tower from 19th century work of the famous sculptor Ivan Rendić at Ložišća.

        All over the island there are piles of unprocessed stone piled up in drystone walls placed along farm roads, which is a real attraction and gives the island its unique identity. According to some estimation that quantity of stone amounts to approximately seven million of square meters.
